Stability analysis of vortex-induced vibrations on wind turbines

چکیده

Abstract A parked wind turbine can be subjected to large yaw angles, which causes vortex shedding. Under some particular inflow conditions, the interaction between shed vorticity and blade structure could lead Vortex-Induced Vibrations (VIV). VIV are an instability where response grows until it reaches a limit cycle oscillation. In this paper, we will focus on last part of response. We see that shedding makes aeroelastic system linear time-periodic, study its stability with Floquet theory. use high-fidelity simulations different quantify using model-free approach.

Vortex Induced Vibrations Analysis Across a Tapered Tower

In this paper, 3D flow past a long tapered tower is examined. A tapered tower is described by the taper ratio. Tapered cylinders are a good description of many structures, like wind turbine tower e.t.c. Similar to the flow around cylinders, the Reynolds number is the important flow parameter, and the Strouhal number represents the shedding frequency. These flow patterns are difficult to predict...

Perturbation of Vortex Induced Vibrations on a Square Section Cylinder

This paper addresses the vibration of a square section cylinder due to the alternate vortex shedding at moderate Reynolds number (3500). The numerical investigation is focused on the perturbation of the vortex shedding in order to decrease the amplitude of the vibrations at lock-in. By analyzing the unsteady flow results, we show that a control technique spatially localized at the surface of th...

A Prescribed-Wake Vortex Line Method for Aerodynamic Analysis and Optimization of Multi-Rotor Wind Turbines

This paper extends the prescribed wake vortex lattice/line method (VLM) to perform aerodynamic analysis and optimization of dual-rotor wind turbines (DRWTs). A DRWT turbine consists of a large, primary rotor placed co-axially behind a smaller, secondary rotor. The additional vortex system introduced by the secondary rotor of a DRWT is modeled while taking into account the singularities that occ...

An Aeroacoustic Analysis of Wind Turbines*

This paper describes computational aeroacoustic methods that are being applied to predict the noise radiated by wind turbines. Since the wind turbine noise problem is very challenging, only some of the important noise sources and mechanisms are being considered. These are airfoil self-noise, the effects of blade rotation, and the propagation of sound over large distances. Two aspects of airfoil...

the effect of shifting natural frequency on the reduction of vortex-induced vibrations of marine risers

many procedures suggest for reduction of responses of riser to vortex induced vibrations (viv). natural frequencies of marine risers is an important parameter that can affect the responses of riser to viv. change of riser properties such as top tension and bending stiffness can alter natural frequencies. in this study effects of riser specifications on the responses and fatigue damage of marine...
